    Description

Offered here is a lot of 3 Hess Toy Trucks.  These toys are new in the box and appear not to have been opened.  I certainly will not open any of them.  All of these were given to my children by a beloved uncle who died in 1988.  Our boys were too young for them. The toys were put on a shelf and never opened.
The toy trucks are a "First Hess Truck" from 1982 of 1983a 1984 tractor tanker and a 1987 semi-truck with a "dry van" trailer. Details of each toy truck are below. For many years, Hess sold these toy trucks at their gas stations (and perhaps elsewhere), generally at the Christmas gift giving season. These are seen from top to bottom in picture #1.
Item #1: 1987 Hess Toy Truck. The is a semi tractor-trailer. The trailer appears to be a standard dry van trailer, although the back half of the trainler is distinctly narrower.  (This is distinct from other years in which the trailer is a tanker; see item #2 below.) Whether this represents an actual trailer or an artist's concept in unknown.  On the toy truck, the narrowed the portion of the toy devoted to a piggy bank function.
The tractor is a generic common trailer of the time although no distinct brand identified. The lower portion of the grill shows "HESS" in large letters. The doors and the wind deflector show the Hess trademark. The toy appears to be modeled on a 1987 Peterbilt 359 although it is distinct in headlight shape, in having a single windshield (the real truck has a split windshield) and of course it lacks the distinct red oval trademark of a Peterbilt.  It is not a truck with living quarters for the driver. The Tractor has a wind deflector on the roof, although it differs from actual wind deflectors of the period in that it starts about halfway back on the roof.  This tractor may be modeled on an actual truck (though I can't find it) or is an artist's generic concept.
Note again that this toy in new in the box and has never been opened.  As a result the only details I can give are from the illustrations on the box. Of course, I will not open the box so I cannot take pictures of the truck inside.  This explains the lack of pictures of the actual toy trucks in this listing
Pictures of this toy truck can be found at https://rayshesstoytrucks.com/hess-toy-truck-descriptions/.  However, the pictures at that site are copyrighted and thus I cannot show them here.  All the pictures included here are of the actual box containing the toy truck, shown in pictures #1 (a side view) and #3 (a bottom view, again with the 1982-83 truck at the top and the 1987 truck at the bottom. The bottom of the box shows how to install a battery to light up truck's running lights and instructions to release the piggy bank compartment.
The box on two long sides shows the truck in front of a Christmas scene of a decorate gazebo, skaters on a small pond and of course a Christmas tree. The top simply says "HESS Toy Truck Bank" on the where the word "Hess" is the company's registered trademark.  This is seen at the bottom of picture #2.
The ends of the truck box show the front and back of the truck.  The image of the rear view carries the words "MADE IN HONG KONG Amerada Hess Corporation Woodbridge NJ 07095"
I assume the toy truck inside is pristine.  However, the box is slightly crushed at the top left corner (see picture #6). This slight crush is not serious enough to harm the toy truck inside.
Item #2: This is a 1984 Hess Toy Truck, which is a tractor and gasoline tanker. Much of what has been said above regarding the 1987 Hess Toy Truck, above, applies to this item as well. Again, this is in a box that appears never to have been opened, and I will not open it either.
The top is labeled "Hess Toy Truck Bank" (with Hess as the Hess trademark; it is the top of picture #2). One side has the image of the truck being used as a bank while the other shows a perspective shot of the truck with an urban background.  The bottom of the box includes illustrations for inserting the battery and for retrieving coins from the bank (the middle truck in picture #1)
The box of the 1984 toy truck is vwet slightly crushed, as seen slight bend outward on the side view of the toy's box.  There is a very small tear on this same side (picture #4) This is not severe enough to have any effect on the toy truck inside.
Item #3: This toy is modeled on a 1933 Chevrolet truck actually used by the founder of the Hess Corporation (see picture #5).  This toy was in production from 1982 to 1983.  The only distinction between the years is the color of the on-off switch. Of course, I will not open this box so I cannot say which of the two years it is.
This box is near pristine.  Across the top is script is "The First Toy Truck" with same illustration of the truck on both sides.  The bottom contains illustration for the battery installation (this is the top truck in picture #3). One side there is a slight indentation, as if the box was pushed lightly on a hard object.  It is virtually unnoticeable.
This lot of 3 toy trucks will be packaged in one box.  The box will be carefully wrapped, shipped USPS Priority Mail and will be appropriately insured. I will ship to Canada although shipping will be higher than stated in the listing. Other international sales, please contact me.
This was a long listing.  I hope you got all the information you need.  Thank you for taking the time to read my posting, Dave
